The Saratoga YMCA

All are welcome to drop in and join in the swim at the Saratoga YMCA.  You need not be a member of USMS.  If not a Y member, you will need to pay the daily Y usage fee when entering the Y.  These are not workouts led by an on-deck coach.  Rather there is a shared written workout.   There is a group that starts at 5:15 a.m. (pretty much M-F), one at 6:00 a.m. (pretty much M-Saturday) and one at 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Find a lane that seems appropriate to your speed and introduce yourself.  The workouts are usually 45 minutes and about 2,400 yds although some swimmers bridge between two time slots and swim further.  Ever since Covid struck it has been required to sign up for lane space 48 hours or less in advance but truthfully as long as you’re joining a lane that already has two swimmers and is CIRCLING then it is not necessary.  If the lane is not circling, then they likely will refuse to do so.  On Saturdays there may be as many as 20 swimmers with only 5-8 at each time slot weekdays.  If you have additional questions, please contact Karen Byer at Byer@roadrunner.com
